The distance between your counter and cabinet can be set depending on your personal preference because the ideal height between your counter and cabinets would, of course, be derived from your height and reach.
According to most guidelines for interior design, the standard height between a counter and a cabinet is 18 inches. This is deemed as the perfect distance because it lets average people to comfortably reach the cabinets even while performing certain tasks on the counter.
Now if you want to go down to the specifics, here are the ideal dimensions for kitchen cabinets and counters if for people who are 5 to 10 feet tall:
· The counter tops should be 37 inches from the floor
· The bottom side of the upper cabinets should be 15 inches from the counter top
· The upper wall cabinet’s height should not exceed 32 inches
Take note that if your height is less than 5 feet or taller than 10 feet, you may need to make subtle arrangements like cabinets that are placed an inch or two higher or lower than what is recommended.
